You can always get a £5 off your M&S shopping in the UK. If you are based in the Republic of Ireland, you’ll be able to get €7 off your total spend. Though there is a minimum spend of £35 / €50, that’s still a nice 14% off if you spend only the minimum spend of £35 or €50.

M&S Shwopping Scheme

Since 2008 Marks & Spencer and Oxfarm have partnered up and launched the Shwopping Scheme. This scheme has been created to reduce pre-loved clothing ending up in landfills. All garment donations in good condition will be sold by the charity Oxfarm in their shops or on the Oxfarm Online Shop. The money made from the sales will then be used to fund projects around the world to tackle poverty.

Where can I shwop for a M&S discount voucher?

You can shwop in most M&S clothing stores, M&S Outlets and Oxfarm stores. You’ll find Shwop boxes near the tills in all M&S stores that due have the garment recycling facility. Alternatively pop into your local Oxfarm shop to donate your pre-loved clothes.

What can I recycle?

The M&S garment recycling programme accepts any clothing items in any condition and from any brand. Things you can recycle include:

Clothing from any retailer and any brand, shoes, handbags, jewellery, belts, hats, scarves and bras.

You can also recycle home soft furnishings such as: bed linen, cushions, napkins, table clothes, throws, aprons, curtains and towels.

Even if the items are not in a great condition to be sold and reused, these can still be recycled to to produce new materials and reused. M&S for instance uses these recycled materials in some of their mattresses as filing.

This rewarding textile recycling scheme is a great idea. This doesn’t just save me and others money, but is also protecting our environment by reducing the amount of fabrics ending up on the landfill. Though it’s very difficult to live completely eco-friendly, I like to try to live a bit more greener.

How many vouchers can I get?

You’ll get a £5 voucher each time you bring a bag of unwanted or used clothing to recycle. You could bring in carrier bag of fabrics at different times and collect as many £5 vouchers as you like. However you won’t be able to use multiple vouchers in a transaction. Hence I tend to split my shopping in several transactions to make the most of my vouchers. If I had a total of £70 to pay, I would use 2 vouchers and split it in 2 £35 transactions. This way I get £10 off my M&S shop.
